Captain Queed takes over the command of the US "Caine" and immediately orders changes to the running of the vessel much against the instincts of the crew and officers. Slowly the changes and restrictions take on a more ominous form as the captain is seen to be neurotic and dangerous by the crew. During a hurricane the Captain finally loses his nerve and the second officer takes over command of the vessel only to be accused by Queeg of "mutiny".
