Martin (Richard Briers) is the king of DIY, a busybody know-it-all who tries to run the community. He's also a pompous bore. His wife, Ann, is a patient & loving ally, although she is at times driven to despair. Martin's dominance in the community is continually threatened by his dashing, popular neighbour, Paul (Peter Egan), who delights in ridiculing him & his regimented ways.
