Not so very long ago, Jasper lived at the South Pole with his family, as do all normal penguins. While the other penguins enjoyed themselves in the water, hunted fish and learned to spell the word "snow", Jasper would stand at the edge of the infinite icy sheet, gripped by wanderlust. He would stare out to sea for hours on end and wonder who built the huge floating boxes on the horizon, what those other penguins looked like, where they came from and where they went to.
